Recently I tried to explain to a friend, who doesn't work in the film business, what my job is as a filmeditor. She listened carefully, then she smiled and said: Ok, now I got it: You are cutting away the boring parts.

Yeah! Thats exactly what I do. I want to find the core, the true emotion, the storyline. I am carving it out like a sculptor. Working it over and over again. Like in a meditation I try to focus an let go at the same time. I try not to get attached to things I love in my edit until I really have found the truth that lies in my material.
